NeuroGauge Africa
NeuroGauge Africa is a neuroscience research platform providing researchers across Africa and globally with browser-based cognitive assessment tools. The platform delivers research-grade N-back cognitive load testing across three stimulus modalities — Letters, Shapes, and Rotated-E — alongside NASA-TLX workload questionnaires, reaction-time precision scoring (including d-prime and criterion), and full CSV/SPSS data export. Built for multi-participant academic studies, NeuroGauge enables researchers to create projects, generate shareable test links requiring no participant login, manage collaborative research teams, and export structured data for statistical analysis. The platform represents a significant software development project combining cognitive psychology methodology with modern web engineering.
Scope of work
- Full-stack custom web application development from scratch
- N-back cognitive testing engine: Letters, Shapes, and Rotated-E stimulus types
- Difficulty calibration: 0-back through 3-back with priming trials and configurable target rates
- Timing system: 3-second screen cycle (0.5s display + 2.5s response) using performance.now() for sub-millisecond precision
